about

Well, it's a love song, everyone writes love songs, so I guess I better too, right?

Not really though. It started out as a late night just jam session by myself which quickly turned out the entire first section of this song. I didn't really start it with anything in mind, so it became difficult to finish. Where is this song going? What is it trying to say?

After much thought and pondering, I decided that the song would chronicle a relationship in three parts. The first being that part where you know you're in love but you just so desperately don't want to say it in case the other person would spurn you. And then the second part would be where both parties are quite comfortable with each other and everything is fine and dandy. And then of course, ending just as awkwardly as it began. Quite anticlimactic.

But that just wasn't working out, no matter how hard I tried, until one day suddenly I came up with the chord progression from the second section of the song. It then all became a very meta thing, where the song came from nowhere and was about a relationship that just sort of happened and you don't really know where it went or how you got into it. You don't really remember the middle parts of what happened, and all that's left is just this mess of lies and miscommunication.

But that's okay.

lyrics

My heart is heavy for you
My head is light so are my feet
And I am something something
My mouth is skipping on repeat
I can hardly think
What I can say to you
To fill this awkward silence
That I feel when I’m right next to you and
You fill me right up to the top
With butterflies and cotton tongue
And it’s been getting late
But I can’t end this song
Because when it’s over you’ll GO
And I don’t want you to
But if I say then you’ll KNOW
About the way that I feel

You coursing through my veins
You’ve caused me so much pain
There must be something that I missed
Way back when we started this
I can’t even recall the middle
All of the good times, none of these riddles
And now you’re gone and I’m insane
And drunk like it’ll change something

But I’m fine
I’m okay
That’s a lie
But I’ll say it anyway
